Is there a minimum requirement to be a U-PIC customer?
No. We have programs available for every shipper, small and large.
Why are the rates for purchasing insurance online higher than other rates listed
on your site?
The offline rates are for U-PIC policy holders with established volumes.
What if I do not have an electronic shipping system?
U-PIC is integrated in several shipping software applications, we can also provide
you with U-PIC exports if you are using carrier systems.
How can you offer insurance at such low costs?
Carriers do not provide discounts on insurance, volume shippers deserve a discounted
rate.
If U-PIC does not want me to specify that my parcel is insured on the outside
of the package, how do I show to my customer that the parcel is insured?
Click here to print insurance cards that you
can include inside of your packages.
How do I file a claim?
You will have to print out the U-PIC claim form from our site, you were also given
a supply in your start up kit. You must fill out the claim form and attach all documents
required which are listed on the U-PIC claim form. There are different items required
depending on what carrier was used. If you are claiming an item insured online and
you submitted a claim online, you will still need to print the U-PIC claim form
and submit the required paperwork.
Do I do anything different if my claim is for the U.S. Postal Service?
Yes. You must wait 21 days before submitting a claim to U-PIC for lost parcels.
You must also submit a signed affidavit from the consignee (if you were the shipper),
or the shipper (if you were the consignee) stating the item was damaged or lost.
All claims for USPS parcels must be filed within 90 days of shipment.
How do I pay my U-PIC premium and when is it due?
Premium payment is due in the U-PIC office on the 10th of the month following the
insured period. If you are able to keep track of your packages by manifest or by
a hand tally report, you can calculate what you owe U-PIC by multiplying the number
of declared value units (DVU's, increment of $100.00, i.e. $400.00 package shipped
by post office equals 4 DVU's) by the U-PIC rate. You may then pay by check or various
online payment services.

specifics of the claim. You also provide hard copy documents to U-PIC . Read the
claim instructions
for more details.
Do I do anything different if my online claim is for the U.S. Postal Service?

a signed affidavit from the consignee (if

Why will U-PIC only remit claim checks to the person who's credit card purchased
the insurance?
It is vital that U-PIC and U-PIC 's customers prevent insurance fraud whenever possible.
By remitting checks only to the owner of the purchasing credit card, U-PIC can reduce
the purchasing of insurance, and false claims using stolen credit cards. This helps
U-PIC
keep the cost of insurance as low as possible for it's customers.
I order insurance online from U-PIC frequently. How can I keep from having to
fill out my information over and over again?
U-PIC 's site will store a 'cookie' on your machine whenever you purchase insurance
online with us. The next time you visit the online ordering page, the U-PIC system
should recognize you and automatically fill in the fields most likely to have not
changed between orders. Fields that are expected to change, like Package IDs and
ship dates are left blank. You will also be required to re-certify that you are
not insuring restricted items.
If your browser cannot read cookies, or if you have elected to turn cookies off,
you may still receive the same benefit by entering any of your prior order ID's
in the field on the welcome page along with your zip code. The U-PIC system will
retrieve the information from your prior order and insert the data into your form
to save typing and speed the ordering process.
Does U-PIC retain my credit card information on it's servers?
No. U-PIC wants to keep your financial data private and secure. At the time of an
online order, U-PIC gathers your credit card information via SSL (Secure Socket
Layer) and sends the encrypted credit card information to our credit card processor.
Once the transaction is completed by the processor, the credit card information
is destroyed. U-PIC never retains your credit card number or expiration date in
it's databases.
